"Content Advisor" Please check your ContentAdvisor settings for missing information.

SYMPTOMS

When you start Internet Explorer, you may receive the following error message:
"Content Advisor Please check your ContentAdvisor settings for missing information.
Click the Tools menu and then click Internet Options.
On the Content tab check the Content Advisor settings."  

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Ratings.pol file is damaged or corrupted, or if there is another
Ratings.pol file located in the C:\Windows folder.

 

RESOLUTION

Error Message: Please Check Your Content Advisor Settings for Missing Information

This error is caused by a damaged or duplicate RATINGS.POL file. To fix this problem,
find and delete any copies of RATINGS.POL. Then Start IE, and go to Tools, Internet
Options, Content. Click on Settings in the Content Advisor area. Type the Supervisor
password. Change the ratings option if necessary, and click OK. Close IE and restart it.

If this does not work try the following

Caution! This procedure requires editing the Windows Registry. Make a backup of the
Registry before you continue.

 Open the registry editor (regedit) and navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\polices\Ratings

Delete all folders and entries under Ratings folder. Close regedit try launching IE Explorer.
